On the weekend on September 23rd – 24th September, over 120 keen golfers from in and around
Canberra competed in the 2017 Gungahlin Lakes Men’s Open. With cash prizes, a hole-in-one car prize thanks to Gold Creek Motors and entry into the NSW Amateur Championships all up for grabs, the stakes were high.
Young guns Joel Shields (Young Golf Club) & Jake Davies (Gungahlin Lakes) took it to a first hole playoff on the 18th to decide the winner, with Shields taking home the win. Both Shields and Davies have gained entry into the NSW Amateur Championships to be played in late January at Gungahlin Lakes and Royal Canberra courtesy of Golf NSW.
