Preferred Lies Local rule revised 18/02/2020

While the recent rainfall was greatly appreciated and needed, the deluge in which it was delivered has unfortunately caused damaged to our fairways.

Therefore in consultation with our Greens committee and ground staff, the Match committee has agreed to implement the following local rule:

The “Preferred lies” local rule will be:

When a player’s ball lies in part of the general area, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball within one club length of the original position, with the following limits:

  • Position must not be nearer the hole than the original position
  • Must be in the general area
  • No relief if original position within one club length of a tree trunk or boundary fence

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2c
